Expert Coach Center Full Certification Program Pricing Tier Descriptions

Below you will find specific information for each of our 4 pricing tiers when enrolling in our full, NBHWC-approved coach training program.

ESSENTIAL — $2,400

For the coach pursuing coaching skills, but not board certification.

Everything you need to be a certified health and wellness coach: the full curriculum, live practice to ensure confidence in coaching skills, and a supportive community.

NBHWC-approved Curriculum

The complete health and wellness coaching curriculum, approved by the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching, on your schedule. You'll work through coaching foundations, motivational interviewing, behavior change theory, active listening, powerful questioning, goal setting, and the ethics and scope of practice every professional coach needs. Because it's self-paced, you decide whether to move through a module in one sitting or across a few evenings. Everything is online and available upon enrollment, so you can work around a full-time job, a night shift, or a family schedule.

Case Studies

Eight full-length client stories that follow a coaching relationship from first session to final week. Most training programs teach you techniques in isolation. These case studies show you what coaching actually looks like over time. Each one follows a client through a complete 12-week arc, including the hopeful first session, the week five plateau, the setback nobody planned for, the moment something finally clicks. You'll see how a skilled coach adjusts, when to hold a client accountable and when to back off, and how progress rarely moves in a straight line. Cases span a range of client situations and readiness levels, so you build pattern recognition before you're sitting across from a real person. All cases are composite scenarios, not real identifiable clients.

Live Session Practice

Facilitated live practice where you coach and get coached. Live sessions are offered mornings and evenings so your schedule isn't a barrier.Reading about coaching and doing it are two different things. These live sessions put you in the chair. You'll practice with fellow students in facilitated small groups, taking turns as coach and client, working with real goals rather than scripted role-play. A facilitator is present to keep sessions on track and offer in-the-moment guidance. We run both a morning and an evening block every week because our students are nurses coming off shift, parents with school pickup, and people in several different time zones.

Instructor Office Hours

Bring your questions to a live instructor as often as you need. Self-paced doesn't have to mean on your own. Every week, an ECC instructor holds open office hours — drop in when you need to, skip when you don't. Bring a question about a module, a situation you're stuck on, an ethics gray area, or something a practice client said that you didn't know how to handle. Students have access to attend these sessions for up to 1 year after the start of their cohort.

Welcome Kit

A “welcome to the ECC family” package that arrives at the start of your program. A gift at your door that says you've started something and that you’re family now. It's a small thing, but our students consistently tell us it was a meaningful part of their journey and decision to choose ECC as their training program.

Digital Certificate

When you finish the program (online modules and live sessions), you'll receive a digital certificate of completion you can attach to a résumé, post to LinkedIn, or send to an employer. It documents that you completed an NBHWC-approved training program, which is meaningful credibility with wellness employers, clients, and referral partners. Please note: a certificate of completion is not the same as board certification, which is awarded by NBHWC after you pass their exam. If board certification is your goal, the Professional tier or above is your path.

Basic Coaching Toolkit

You’ll receive ready-to-use client forms and exercises (including a sample coaching agreement) so you're not building from a blank page.New coaches often finish training and then freeze at the first practical question: what do I actually send a client before session one? This toolkit answers that. You get a sample coaching agreement, intake and session forms, and a set of client exercises you can adapt for your own practice. Everything is editable, so you can put your own name, voice, and brand on it. These are professional templates, not legal documents; we recommend having any client agreement reviewed by an attorney in your state.

Curriculum Access for 1 Year

You’ll have access to the digital curriculum for a full year beginning with cohort start date. Many students come back to the motivational interviewing and behavior change modules once they've started coaching real people and suddenly have additional questions. Revisit any topic as many times as you like during the year. After 1 year, access can be continued for a $10 per month subscription.

Peer Support and Community

A private community of fellow students and graduates who are figuring this out alongside you. You'll be part of a close-knit community where students and graduates trade practice clients, work through tricky situations, share what's working, and keep each other moving. This matters more than most people expect. Coach training is personal work, and doing it entirely alone is the single most common reason people face burnout and question whether they should continue in the field.

PROFESSIONAL — $2,900

For the coach pursuing board certification.

Everything in Essential, plus the assessment, documentation, and exam preparation that provides eligibility to pursue national board certification through the NBHWC (www.nbhwc.org).

Practical Skills Assessment

The Practical Skills Assessment (PSA) is required for NBHWC exam eligibility. The PSA is a compilation of 3 recorded coaching sessions that showcase a prospective coach’s skills and abilities. This process includes mentor feedback scored on a rubric and delivered through real time feedback sessions (phone call or Zoom). This process leads to higher self-confidence for coaches just entering the profession.

Letter of Eligibility

This is the official documentation NBHWC requires to confirm you completed an approved training program and are eligible to sit for the national board exam. Once you complete the curriculum, attend all live sessions, and pass your Practical Skills Assessment, we issue your Letter of Eligibility. This is the piece Essential doesn't include, and you can't apply for the board exam without it. Two things to know: the letter covers the training-program requirement only. You'll also need 50 logged coaching sessions completed after your skills assessment, plus an associate's degree or higher (or equivalent work experience) and you'll apply directly to NBHWC during one of their open application windows.

50 Session Toolkit

A practical plan for finding potential clients for your 50 session coaching log, which is required to be completed prior to applying to sit for the NBHWC exam. The 50-session requirement is where most newly certified coaches get stuck. This toolkit offers 10 strategies for how to find clients.

Free NBHWC Digital Study Course

A complete self-paced exam prep course, included at no extra cost. Board exam prep is a real expense on top of everything else, and at this tier it's covered. You get full access to a digital, self-paced study course built around the exam's content outline — so you're studying what's actually tested rather than rereading your entire curriculum. Work through it on your own timeline in the weeks and months before your exam window.

$100 Discount on the NBHWC Peer-led Study Cohort

Expert Coach Center facilitates a peer-led study cohort ahead of each exam window. Self-paced study works for some people but others find that accountability within a peer group is more helpful. The peer-led study cohort gives you a group, a schedule, and people expecting you to show up. Professional enrollees get $100 off registration. The cohort is facilitated by a NBC-HWC, but the content is provided by the coaches who are enrolled.

1:1 Private Session for Business Idea Generation

Many coaches enter the field with hopes of creating their own coaching practice through launching a business. Expert Coach Center offers a 1:1 private working session to figure out what your coaching business could actually look like. Training teaches you to coach. It doesn't tell you who you'll coach, what to charge, or how anyone will find you. This is a private one-on-one session with ECC staff to work that out. We’ll discuss who you're best positioned to serve, what your background gives you an edge in, whether you're aiming for private clients or a corporate wellness contract or even a role inside an existing practice. You leave with direction, insight and a plan. This 1:1 session is 60 minutes in length and delivered via phone or Zoom.

20% Off ECC Continuing Education Courses

Expert Coach Center offers a wide variety of continuing education courses. All courses are approved by the NBHWC and offer credits towards recertification for NBC-HWCs. This tier offers a 20% discount on our continuing education offerings. The NBHWC requires all board certified coaches to obtain 36 continuing education credits (36 hours of professional development) every 3 years.  Please note: Coach Training Academy courses are excluded.

PREMIUM — $3,900 · Most Popular

For the coach building a practice, not just earning a credential.

Everything in Essential and Professional, plus lifetime access, real one-on-one time, and support that continues after you're certified.

Lifetime Curriculum Access

Every module, case study, recording, and toolkit stays available to you for as long as we offer the program (including updates we make as the field and NBHWC's standards evolve). In practice this matters more three years from now than it does on day one. When you take on your first client with a diagnosis you haven't worked with, or you're preparing for recertification, or you simply want to reread the ethics module before a difficult conversation, it's all still there.

Paper Certificate Delivered via Priority Mail

You’ll receive a physical certificate, printed and mailed via USPS Priority Mail. Something to be proud of that you can frame and hang in the office where you'll be seeing clients. (Available only to students within the United States.)

3 Private 1:1 Coaching Sessions with ECC staff

Three private sessions with ECC staff, used however you need them. Students use them differently: some want to be coached on their own goals so they know what the experience feels like from the client's side. Some bring a real client situation they're stuck on. Some use them as focused skill work before the Practical Skills Assessment or for business-building coaching. These sessions are 50 minutes in length and can be done via Zoom or phone. Sessions must be completed within 1 year after certification.

Free Access to the NBHWC Peer-led Study Cohort

Expert Coach Center hosts an 8-week peer led study cohort ahead of each exam window. Rather than a discount, Premium includes your spot in the cohort at no cost. You get the structured study group, the schedule, and the accountability of preparing alongside other candidates. For most students this is the difference between studying consistently and studying in the two panicked weeks before their exam.

20% off Coach Training Academy Courses · 40% off All Other CE Courses

This tier offers deeper continuing education discounts, including the Coach Training Academy courses. Premium doubles your continuing education discount to 40% across the catalog and unlocks a 20% discount on Coach Training Academy courses. If you plan to keep training (and NBC-HWC recertification means you will)  this alone recovers a meaningful share of the tier upgrade.

Business Blueprint 1:1 Deep Dive Session

Where the Professional tier session generates ideas, this one builds the plan. It's a longer, deeper working session focused on one thing: the specific niche you want to coach in. We work through who that person actually is, what they're struggling with in language they'd recognize, how you'd describe what you do in a sentence, what a package could look like and what it should cost, and where those clients already spend their attention. This session is 120 minutes in length and provides a written plan emailed within 1 week of the session.

Priority Support Response Time

The year after certification is when real, time-sensitive questions show up (i.e.: the first paying client, the first difficult ethics call, the NBHWC application, a scope-of-practice question about a client's medication, etc). Premium moves you to the front of the support queue for a full 12 months after you're certified. Receive email or call responses from ECC staff within 48 hours.

PLATINUM — $5,400

For the coach launching a business, not just a practice.

Everything in Essential, Professional, and Premium, plus the done-for-you assets, extended mentorship, additional coaching sessions and visibility of a full business launch.

Coach Library

Expert Coach Center will ship five essential coaching books, chosen by our instructors, directly to your door. Five books that our instructors consider foundational. Coaching is a field with real literature behind it, and the coaches who read it develop a deeper breadth of knowledge on coaching theory, techniques, and modalities.

Book Titles (subject to change based on availability):

Motivational Interviewing: Helping People Change and Grow

Masterful Health and Wellness Coaching: Deepening Your Craft

Co-Active Coaching 4th Edition

Changing to Thrive: Using the Stages of Change to Overcome the Top Threats to Your Health

Mindset: The New Psychology of Success

6 private 1:1 Coaching Sessions with ECC staff

Six one-on-one sessions, used however they serve you best. This can be ongoing mentorship, personal health and wellness coaching, business coaching, etc. Students building a business from scratch tend to space these across the year and treat them as check-ins. Sessions are 50 minutes in length and can be held via Zoom or phone call.

Coaching Intake Forms Package

A complete, ready-to-send client onboarding system created for your practice. The Essential tier includes sample forms, while this version is specific to your practice and needs. It includes an intake questionnaire, coaching agreement, health history, goal-setting worksheets, session prep and follow-up forms, list of powerful questions, etc. This is about time-savings. (As with all business forms and documentation, these should be reviewed by an attorney in your state).

Continuing Education Courses (36 credits) Free

Mix and match Continuing Education (CE) courses to build your first full recertification for free. NBHWC certification requires 36 continuing education credits per renewal cycle. Platinum covers your first round. After your first cycle, enjoy a 50% discount on additional CE credits.

Full Website and Marketing Materials Audit

ECC staff will conduct a comprehensive review of your website and marketing, with specific recommendations. Send us your website, your services page, your social profiles, whatever you've written to describe what you do and we'll go through it properly. Not a glance and a compliment: an actual review of whether your message lands with the people you're trying to reach, whether your offer is clear, and whether your language stays inside the coaching scope of practice (a place where well-intentioned new coaches get into trouble). You get specific, prioritized recommendations you can act on immediately. Recommendations will be provided via a recorded walk through so the feedback is more clear.

Custom 12-week Coaching Arc

A complete 12-week coaching program arc sample, built for your specific niche. The case studies in the Essential tier show you how a coaching arc works. This one is built specifically for your niche. Tell us who you want to coach (i.e.: postpartum mothers, executives with hypertension, retirees rebuilding fitness, employees in a corporate wellness contract) and we'll build a custom 12-week program outline for that audience: session-by-session structure, focus areas, the natural sticking points to anticipate, and how the arc builds toward the outcome that client actually wants. It becomes the backbone of your signature program, which means you're selling a defined offer instead of hourly sessions. This is provided after program completion.

Featured Business

Your business gets a listing on the ECC website and a dedicated social media post highlighting who you serve and what you offer. This puts you in front of an audience already interested in health and wellness coaching. This is a sign of credibility for prospective clients checking whether you're legitimate, and for many new coaches the first place on the internet where their practice exists outside their own website.

VIP Support

Our fastest response time (within 24 hours) from ECC staff for two full years after certification.
